Missions at SW Hills focuses locally and globally with the intent of facilitating varied mission partners while maintaining sensitivity to God's leading for both individuals and whole teams. This maximizes our opportunities to participate in varied ministries while drawing on the vast treasure of gifts and skills God has developed among us. We also encourage individuals at SW Hills to engage in local ministries as God calls them to serve alongside our missionary partners around the greater Portland area. We also look forward to raising up and sending out individuals who will consider extended internships of six months to a year or even full-time service.

The Karen Leadership Development Program is a Karen- birthed and led Christian ministry in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Lu Hawley has walked alongside this ministry since 2014. About one million Karen people (the largest indigenous ethnic groups in northern Thailand and Myanmar) live in remote mountainous regions. Many Karen students come to Chiang Mai (the largest city in north Thailand) hoping to receive a university education, where immense challenges await them - discrimination, cultural isolation, and difficulty adjusting to urban life. The KLDP addresses these challenges.

gap to keep more children safe and families together!

Our Homeless Services programs provide meals, clothing, showers, and shelter to people who are living on the streets. Our LifeChange Recovery Programs provide long-term Christ-centered programming for men, women, and children. Recovery provides holistic care through counseling, Bible studies, classes, and job readiness training. Transformational Housing provides up to one year of low-fee housing, meals, classes, community, and practical support so people can move forward and thrive long term.
