Aggressive Faith
What does it look like to pursue God with everything we have, regardless of what others think or say? Three powerful encounters in the Gospel of Luke paint a vivid picture of what we might call aggressive faith. A blind beggar refuses to be silenced by the crowd, crying out to Jesus even louder when told to stop. A despised tax collector climbs a tree in his robes, throwing dignity to the wind just to catch a glimpse of the Savior passing by. A faithful servant turns one mina into ten through relentless, devoted effort. Each of these figures shows us that genuine faith is not passive or polite! It is bold, persistent, and utterly unconcerned with the opinions of bystanders. As we reflect on these stories, we are invited to ask ourselves a hard question: how much do we hold back in our walk with God because we are worried about what others think? The blind man could not see, yet he saw Jesus more clearly than the crowd surrounding him. There is a striking irony there that challenges us to examine our own spiritual vision.
